Statewide Dual Credit

Partnerships for Innovation in collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Education, postsecondary institutions, and business/industry will be developing statewide dual credit options in the following Career Clusters:

  • Information Technology
    • To maximize the Community Based Job Training Grant through Metropolitan Community College, PFI will be assisting with the coordination of five dual credit classes. These courses will provide high school students the opportunity to earn college credit in any of the IT career pathways developed by the Nebraska Department of Education which meets the program of study requirements.
  • Health Sciences
    • To align programs of study and introductory coursework, PFI is coordinating efforts with NDE, community colleges and high schools to maximize partnerships and curricular offerings to students while preparing a strong Health Care workforce.
  • Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics
    • NDE in cooperation with PFI received a $129,000 grant from the Office of Vocational and Adult Education to implement a statewide curriculum for TDL. The process is as follows:
      • October 10: Curriculum Strategy Session to identify which career pathways to address
      • November 13: Curriculum Alignment Workshops to develop articulated courses available for dual credit for all Nebraska students
  • Education and Training
    • Addressing the near future teaching shortage, NDE and PFI are working to align three introductory education courses made available for Nebraska high school students. Human Growth and Development, Introduction to Education and Experience in Teaching courses will be constructed in a statewide dual credit curriculum alignment workshop November 12 , 2008.
