Project Progress and Vision & Goals draft
Jean shared the draft of the vision statement and goals. A couple of suggestions were noted. It was recommended that we have 4 goals and keep the first paragraph as the vision statement. Adding articulation into one of the goals was also recommended.

ACTION ITEM: Jean Petsch will email the final vision statement along with goals to the group prior to the next meeting.

Construction College graduates – IPEDS report
Larry Scherer distributed an IPEDs report from CCPE which will serve as the starting point for building our state database of Construction programs and apprenticeships along with graduates. The group reviewed the report and suggested that the following information be added:

Rick Davis will add the Department of Labor apprenticeships.
UNK and Wayne State are missing—Construction Management and Technology programs.

ACTION ITEM: Larry Scherer offered to get additional IPEDs information from his office on UNK and Wayne State. Rick Davis will provide info on DOL apprenticeships.

Southeast Community College Graduate Follow-up Study
Jack Huck distributed Southeast’s 2004 Annual Graduate Placement Report which identifies graduate employment status and starting salary.

Nebraska Apprenticeships
Rick Davis from US Dept of Labor said that there are over 1200 apprenticeships in Nebraska. He offered to share those numbers so that they could be added to the IPEDs report.

Jim Waugh said that there are 70 apprenticeships in Omaha.

ACTION ITEM: Rick will send numbers to Lisa to add to the current report. HVAC Technology & SheetMetal Apprenticeships

Employer Skills Requirements
Jean distributed several evaluation documents completed in exit interviews by graduates and compiled within the program majors at UNL’s Construction Management and UNO’s PKI’s CET. and UNK’s construction Management summary from targeted employers who evaluate internship participants (mandatory for program). Other hands-on, internship-type
projects going on—Iowa Western students actually buy a lot and build a home on it.

Keith Meyer from the Dept of Roads distributed NDOR’s in demand jobs, along with wage and job description information.

Career Ladder
A couple of changes were made to the Career ladder draft. Steve Richman and Rick Davis will work on the salary information based on a median rate for the state, preferably not using the first quarter reporting information. It was suggested that we might want to also use the minimum Davis-Macon rates.

ACTION ITEM: Lisa, Steve and Rick will work on the finalizing the career ladder document.
