It’s amazing what 40 educators and businesspeople
can accomplish in seven hours! On June 22, two year
and four-year college instructors conversed
with secondary business and marketing teachers as
the FutureForce Finance pathway committees
developed three dual credit courses. Southeast
Community College-Lincoln hosted the event,
which engaged the following businesspersons:
Brian Klausen, Chief Financial Officer, Cornhusker
Motor Lines, Inc. Omaha; Brad Shhroeder, Director
of Talent Management, Blue Cross/Blue Shield,
Omaha; Leon Sanders, Barb Sanders State Farm
Insurance Agency, Columbus; and Dena Stevenson,
Employee Development Manager, TierOne Bank,
Lincoln.
Three dual credit courses were developed and will
be fine tuned during July through email. The courses include College Principles of Financial
Accounting, College Introduction to Business, and
College Personal Financial Management.
Four-year institutions represented included the
University of NE-Lincoln, University of NEOmaha,
Creighton University, Wayne State
College and Bellevue University. Central
Community College, Norfolk Community College,
Southeast Community College and Metropolitan
Community College were also represented. High
school business and marketing teachers from
Arlington, Fillmore Central, Lincoln Public
Schools, Lyons-Decatur, Omaha Public Schools,
Ralston, Shelby, Tri County, Wausa, and Wilber-
Clatonia were also participants.
Facilitators for the day included Bonnie Sibert,
Nebraska Department of Education; Erika Volker,
Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce; Lisa
Kastens, Metropolitan Community College, and
Trish Souliere, FutureForce.
